A) SCHOLARSHIPS

I) NAC ARTS SCHOLARSHIP (UNDERGRADUATE)

1) COURSES/ AREAS OF STUDY

The NAC Arts Scholarship (Undergraduate) aims to nurture outstanding individuals who wish to pursue a career as an arts practitioner or professional, and have the potential to lead in the fields of performing arts, visual arts, literary arts, or technical design and production management in Singapore.

The NAC Arts Scholarship (Undergraduate) supports a wide range of arts and arts-related programmes. In view of the needs and opportunities in the arts and cultural sector, the following fields of study have been identified as priority:

   Arts criticism and writing

   Arts management / cultural policy / creative entrepreneurship

   Arts practice with a focus in a traditional art form reflecting the Chinese, Malay & Indian heritage of SG

   Community Arts

   Creative writing and literary translation

   Music business and production

   Technical design and production management

   Visual arts curating

2) SCOPE OF SCHOLARSHIP

For local study - Tuition and compulsory fees up to 90% of total costs, subject to a maximum of $110,000.

 

For overseas study - Tuition and compulsory fees, monthly maintenance allowance and one-time return airfare up to 90% of total costs, subject to a maximum of $110,000.

II) LOKE CHENG-KIM FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP  (UNDERGRADUATE)

1) COURSES/ AREAS OF STUDY

The Loke Cheng-Kim Foundation invites students who have applied for admission to courses leading to first degrees conferred by established local and overseas universities in the 2015/2016 academic year to apply for scholarship awards.

Applicants should be Singapore citizens or permanent residents and should not be current holders of other scholarship awards or grants. The Board is looking particularly for applications in the fields of Natural and Environmental Sciences including Ecology, Biodiversity and Horticulture, the Humanities and the Performing Arts.

2) SCOPE OF SCHOLARSHIP

A scholarship’s annual value will cover fees and book allowances, initial clothing allowance, maintenance allowance and return economy class airfare and is tenable for the whole undergraduate course of study leading to a first degree.

III) OCBC LOCAL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

1) COURSES/ AREAS OF STUDY

Established in the 1950s, the OCBC Local Undergraduate Scholarship provides financial assistance to students who have gained admission or are eligible for admission into first year full-time undergraduate studies of any course at the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University, SIM University, Singapore University of Technology and Design and Bachelor of Music (Hons) at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. The scholarship is also opened to undergraduates of these institutions.

Who are we looking for?

  Undergraduates or prospective undergraduates with excellent academic and CCA records.

   Preference will be given to Singapore citizens.

   For male Singapore citizens, you must have completed National Service.

2) SCOPE OF SCHOLARSHIP

Each scholarship is valued at $11,000 per year. The scholarship is tenable for the minimum period leading to first degree and additional year if you are admitted to Honours course, subject to outstanding academic performance. Internship opportunities to provide you with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience working with us. No bond is required. We may offer you employment, based on merit.

IV) NAC ARTS SCHOLARSHIP (POSTGRADUATE)

1) COURSES/ AREAS OF STUDY

The NAC Arts Scholarship (Postgraduate) recognises outstanding arts practitioners and professionals with a vision to lead and advance the development of their practice in the fields of performing arts, visual arts, literary arts, technical design and production management, or arts management in Singapore. The NAC Arts Scholarship (Postgraduate) supports the deepening of knowledge and skills of practising artists and professionals who are seeking to assume a bigger role in their artistic or professional career and bringing about positive changes in the arts and cultural sector in Singapore.

The NAC Arts Scholarship (Postgraduate) supports a wide range of arts and arts-related programmes. In view of the needs and opportunities of the arts and cultural sector, the following fields of specialised study will be accorded priority:

   Arts criticism and writing

   Arts management / cultural policy / creative entrepreneurship

    Arts practice with a focus in a traditional art form reflecting the Chinese, Malay & Indian heritage of SG

   Community Arts

   Creative writing and literary translation

   Music business and production

   Technical design and production management

   Visual arts curating

V) TAN KAH KEE POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

1) COURSES/ AREAS OF STUDY

This scholarship is highly selective and is only awarded to recipients pursuing, by research, of either a full-time PhD or Masters’ degree locally in Singapore. There is no restriction on the course of study.

Applicants must fulfil the following criteria:Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident;Outstanding academic record (a good Honours Degree or equivalent);

·       A record of sustained commitment to serving the community;

·       Effectively bilingual.

·       Applicants with the above status and qualifications can apply irrespective of race, religion, age and gender.

2) SCOPE OF SCHOLARSHIP

Successful applicants will receive a one-off sum of $10,000 for studying overseas or $7,000 for studying in local universities. Both scholarships do not carry any bond.

VI) DAAD SCHOLARSHIP (POSTGRADUATE)

1) COURSES/ AREAS OF STUDY

DAAD scholarships offer graduates the opportunity to continue their education in Germany with a postgraduate or continuing course of study. The scholarships also promote the exchange of experience and networking amongst colleagues.

Who can apply?

Foreign applicants who have gained a first university degree in the field of Music at the latest by the time they commence their scholarship-supported study programme; if this is not possible, they should have at least exhausted all the training options available for their instrument.

2) SCOPE OF SCHOLARSHIP

• A monthly payment of 750 euros

• Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the home country or another source of funding

• One-off study allowance

• Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance coverUnder certain circumstances, scholarship holders may receive the following additional benefits:

   Contribution towards tuition fees that may be charged by the university (max. 500 euros per semester)

   Monthly rent subsidy

   Monthly allowance for accompanying members of family

VII) THE YAMAHA MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP (BOTH UNDERGRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE)

1) COURSES/ AREAS OF STUDY

The Yamaha Music Foundation, Japan through its associate Schools in Asia have launched the “Yamaha Music Scholarship in Asia” in 2000. Numerous scholarships have been awarded to full-time music students in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

The Music Scholarship is aimed at developing music talents in Asia. It provides financial assistance to students pursuing full-time diploma/degree courses in music at local or overseas educational institutions

THE SCHEME The Yamaha Music Scholarship is aimed at developing music talents in Singapore. It provides financial assistance to students pursuing full-time diploma/degree courses in music at local or overseas educational institutions.

2) SCOPE OF SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship award will be to the value of up to ¥300,000 (approximately $3,800 may be shared up to 3 successful candidates). The money may be used for any purpose that is related to the advancement of music studies.

VIII) MEDIA EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP (BOTH UNDERGRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE)

1) COURSES/ AREAS OF STUDY

The Media Education Scholarship nurtured close to 200 media professionals and industry leaders since 2003.

Since its inception, The Media Education Scholarship (MES) has nurtured close to 200 scholars who have established themselves as film and TV directors, music producers, game developers and visual effects artists. The MES was further enhanced in January 2012 to include industry collaboration through direct job-matching of scholars to companies, better alignment of scholarship to industry demands and requirements, and a clearer career path for professionals set by companies. MES now comes with a full scholarship.

2) SCOPE OF SCHOLARSHIP

   Tuition fees and other compulsory university fees will be sponsored by MDA;

   An annual allowance from the sponsoring media company will be given to the MES scholar to defray living expenses during the period of study;

• A job opportunity will be made available by the sponsoring media company whereby the MES scholar will be developed as a media professional or groomed for a leadership role during the bond period;

• Training, internship and career opportunities in editorial, interactive media, journalism, TV production and new media engineering will be extended to the MES scholar.

IX) SINGAPORE HOKKIEN HUAY KUAN ARTS & CULTURAL AWARD (BOTH UNDERGRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE)

1) COURSES/ AREAS OF STUDY

The Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Arts & Cultural Award is for Singapore citizens or PRs pursuing full-time/ short- term arts and cultural courses locally or abroad. The recipient must be current arts and cultural practitioners or intend to be arts and cultural practitioners upon completion of studies. Preference will be given to candidates pursuing studies related to Chinese arts and culture.

2) SCOPE OF SCHOLARSHIP

Each award is up to $3,000 and the grant quantum will be determined by Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan

X) CLUB 21 SCHOLARSHIP (BOTH UNDERGRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE)

1) COURSES/ AREAS OF STUDY

The Club 21 Scholarship is a merit scholarship supporting outstanding undergraduate or graduate students interested in the fashion, retail, service or creative industries. We are looking for an individual with exceptional personal vision, drive and potential. Applications are open to all students studying or planning to study in accredited institutions of higher learning. Students already midway through their course of study are welcome to apply.

2) SCOPE OF SCHOLARSHIP

Up to $10,000.00 per annum for the duration of the course of study and carries no bond.

XI) AMP EDUCATION BURSARY (BOTH UNDERGRADUATE & POSTGRADUATE)

1) COURSES/ AREAS OF STUDY

The AMP Education Bursary offers monetary assistance to diploma and degree students from low-income families. The bursary award seeks to recognise the recipients' academic achievements, lessen their financial load and be a source of motivation for them to strive harder in their education. The applicant must be a Singapore citizen and the gross monthly household income must not exceed $3,500 (or the Per-Capita Income must not exceed $700 per month)

2) SCOPE OF SCHOLARSHIP

For Diploma: $500 each and for Degree: $1,000 each

B) GRANTS (NATIONAL ARTS COUNCIL)

Seed Grant

The aim of the Seed Grant is to help kick-start their programmes and projects, and to formalise their operations.

Major Grant

The Major Grant Scheme supports the professional and artistic development of registered arts organisations in their endeavour to be hallmarks of artistic excellence in Singapore.

Creation Grant

The Creation Grant supports the creation, adaptation and re-development of distinctive Singapore-made artistic works.

Production Grant

The Production Grant supports the production, presentation and marketing costs of projects from a wide range of genres.

Presentation and Participation Grant

The Presentation and Participation Grant aims to enable a wide range of arts practitioners and organisations to express and enrich our artistic diversity, as well as increase arts appreciation and participation in Singapore.

Market and Audience Development

This grant supports activities to build audiences, patrons and supporters to complement artistic efforts at home and abroad.

Capability Development Grant

The Capability Development Grant encourages and supports the continuous professional development of the people who work in Singapore’s arts and culture sector.

Research and Development Grant

The Research and Development Grant supports research which expands our knowledge and information of the arts and culture sector.

Arts Fund

The Arts Fund will continue to support artists and arts companies that produce good quality performances and exhibitions for the enjoyment and edification of Singaporeans.
